Poland Road Trip: Olsztyn

[:en]Took the autobus from Ketrzyn to Olsztyn. Took some time to find a bus from the train station to the Old Town (not easy when you don’t speak Polish, fortunately I got the GPS & Internet connection with my phone).
Met Copernic (his statue) in front of the Castle and eat pierogi (Polish Dumpling) on the Market Square, where many pigeons self-invited to eat directly from the dish of the next table! The Old Town is really lovely!

I didn’t know that Napoleon visited the town in 1807 after his victories over the Prussian Army!
Napoleon’s army burned almost all the furnishings in the church to fight against the intensive cold and the fire damanged consequently the structure of the church.

The city is under huge construction work for tramway at the moment. Maybe next time it will be easier to reach the Old Town from the train station!

[:fr]On a pris un autobus de Ketrzyn à Olsztyn. On a pris un certain temps pour trouver un bus qui nous amènerait de la gare à la vieille ville (pas facile quand vous ne parlez pas polonais, heureusement, j’ai la connexion Internet et GPS sur mon téléphone).
Rencontré Copernic (ou plutôt sa statue) en face du château et mangé pierogi (raviolis polonais) sur la place du marché, où des nombreux pigeons s’invitaient à manger directement du plat de la table à côté! La vieille ville est vraiment belle!

Napoléon a passé par cette ville en 1807, après ses victoires d’Iéna et Auerstaedt!

Son armé a détruit et brûlé presque tout le mobilier du basilique pour combattre le froid intense.

La ville est sous énorme travail de construction du tramway pour le moment.
Peut-être que la prochaine fois ce serait plus facile de rejoindre la vieille ville de la gare![:]
