[:en]Yes, I must say, there are a lot of waterfalls, a lot of spectacular waterfalls!
The best known waterfalls in South-Iceland are of course Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls!

Seljalandsfoss waterfall

Seljalandsfoss is indeed spectacular as you can walk behind it into a small cave.
The sunset view of the waterfall inside the caveis really mesmerizing.
I will certainly come back here with a sunny weather next time!

It was still raining a bit that day and the path inside the cave was a bit slippy and we did have a boat tour on glacier lagoon in the afternoon so we did not stay long at this waterfall.

We did not have time to walk around as there are other waterfalls near by.
Next time I’ll try to find the hidden Gljúfrabúi waterfall!

Skógafoss waterfall

We continued on the ring-road 1 and visited the Skogafoss which is 30 km away for the first waterfall.
Skogafoss gives a different sensation than Seljalandsfoss with its 25 m wide and 60 m high and powerful fall.
We took longer time visiting here as you can wonder in front of the waterfall and climb up near the top (be careful for those who are afraid of heights) and to the top.
On the top and at the eastern side of the waterfall, there are hiking and trekking trails that leads to the pass between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull.
As the weather was gray, we did not have a chance to see rainbows around the waterfall.

Initially we would like to have a meal in the restaurant nearby but we realized that we were run out of time for the zodiac boat ride on Fjallsarlon glacier lagoon at 5 pm.
So we just ordered take away and ate our lunch in the car.

On the road to glacier lagoon, we passed by many other waterfalls and a place where we can (not) see Eyjafjallajökull volcano in the background (due to thick clouds). The last volcano eruption was in 2010 and one of my friend was stuck at an airport as Northwest- European flights are disrupted for a while in April and May 2010.
Yes, Iceland is a land of fire and there are still many (30+) active volcanos on the island.

Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon

(Zodiac boat tour)

Almost missed the boat ride, the whole team was waiting for us (as we called them to inform them that we would only arrive “on time” yet we forgot that we need to be there 30 min before departure).

Quickly putting on the flotation suits, we followed the yellow marker on the ground to reach the boat on our own. Luckily the boat was still waiting.
Here you can really feel Iceland as a land of glaciers and floating icebergs.
Some of the ice have black color (mixed with black volcanic sand) or unrealistic blue one (due to pressure so the ice is denser and absorbs every color except blue).

It was really cold and we did not wear gloves as we were talking pictures and videos on the boat.
Some people on the boat even ate some ice floating on the lagoon!
My hands were so frozen that they were dark purple!
Hopefully I succeeded in turning my hand to warm and pink color after some energy flowing practices.

(P.S. Next time we can do the Jökulsárlón Iceberg Lagoon –glacier lagoon– boat tour).
After the boat tour, we went to find our hostel and finally we got good weather with sun and blue sky.
The hostel was nice and cozy and surrounded by beautiful nature.

We went to the nearest grocery to buy some vegetables and we made a decent diner at the hostel (curry rice, soup and fruits). We went to bed relatively early that night (after a short walk and some light painting experiment) as there was the “extreme” glacier hiking tour for the whole day waiting for us!

P.S. You can see the stunning scenery of SouthIceland (mainly the two waterfalls and the glacier lagoon) in the video clips “I’ll show you.
