[:en]Landed in Reykjavík airport 🇮🇸 around midnight and didn’t even notice that I just saw the so-called “midnight sun” on the plane, I was so excited knowing that I was finally coming to Iceland for the first time. I know that visiting Iceland is one of the biggest dreams of many of my friends.
Come on, who wouldn’t want to visit Iceland?!!
(maybe those who got stuck due to the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull volcano 🌋 back in 2010…)

Since last year, I’ve been actively planned to visit Iceland (with a road trip around the island) and bought the guide and created a FB group of my friends who are also interested in joining. Also, normally there should be a photo trek (organized hiking tour for photography amateurs) this summer to Faroe Islands (which is also a destination that I want to go, to see the famous Sørvágsvatn), so my initial plan was to go to Iceland for one or two weeks after the trek.

However, life is so unpredictable, of course. The trek to Faroe Island was postponed in the coming years, besides, I was getting out of “a kind of” tunnel and planned a trip to Asia instead of visiting around Europe.
Till the end of June, I totally forgot my plan to Iceland.

Yet, life is also unpredictably wonderful. While I was in Asia, one of my friend (of a friend by that time) suddenly asked me whether I want to join her for a road trip in Iceland. Initially she was supposed to join a group of friends (of a friend/colleague) but as she wanted to explore all around the island instead of staying in the same region; she had decided to rent a car and go for the road trip by herself. The travel proposal was very tempting!!!

I took some time (about one month) to think about it as I did not know if I can afford to go to another (quite expensive) travel nor be absent too long from my home residence.

During that month travelling and visiting friends across Taiwan, Korea, Thailand and Malaysia, I got many “signs” pushing to go to Iceland this year and the two biggest signs let me make my mind to go. The first one was my friend in Taiwan who said that he wanted to go travel abroad and go to Iceland before 40s is his biggest dream! The last one was the day I went for a window shopping in a mall in Malaysia, I went by an 🍎 store with a big poster in front of the store with a macbook on it. I went closer then I saw “ICELAND” in capitals as the wallpaper…. That night I book the flight tickets to Iceland…

I told my friend the next day that I would join her for the trip and then she told me that her colleague would finally join her as well. It became a three-people trip! By that time, they took care of almost everything, including car renting, accommodation re-booking/arranging, trip planning and the driving during the week!!
It was almost like joining an organized tour trip!
La vie est belle, n’est-ce pas?!!

Note: the google map is made by my friend who thoroughly planned the trip (including the menu of each day!)
