Namtso lake and the holy rock (by Peter Vigier @ Wikipedia)

Namtso Lake, Nam Co Lake, or Lake Nam or Heavenly Lake, is the biggest lake in Tibet and the highest salt lake in the world (with a surface area > 50 km2) at 4718 m altitude). It is also one of the most sacred lake in Tibet, with its holy rock covered by Tibetan prayer flags. The lake is located 117 km away from Lhasa and we went there by minivan.

On the way to the lake, we went across some very beautiful scenery and passed by the geothermal power station in Yangbajain (羊八井), where now there shall be hot spring resorts for tourists nearby.

Before arriving to the lake, we stopped at the Na genla (那根拉) mountain beside the lake at 5190 m altitude for a picture.

The water of the lake was crystal blue and clouds were located at the line of the lake and the sky.
We rode the yak in the lake as many other tourists did.
